The Nordic Event Hosts meeting strengthened cross-Nordic cooperation in Copenhagen

The 3rd Nordic Event Hosts Meeting was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 4-6 February 2026, bringing together nearly 50 representatives from event host cities across Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands.

The meeting provided an important platform for knowledge sharing through group discussions, keynote presentations, and panel sessions. Participants exchanged experiences and openly discussed challenges, learnings, best practices, and destination-specific processes related to hosting major events.

Key themes extended beyond event delivery itself and focused on bidding processes, impact, legacy, and funding. These topics continue to grow in importance as the global event environment evolves, challenging host cities to adapt their approaches and reconsider strategic priorities.

“It was delightful to meet our Nordic colleagues, now for the 3rd time. The meeting has been an important effort between ‘neighbours’. A big thank you belongs to our working group for its continued commitment to developing cross-Nordic cooperation. Appreciation also goes to all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions,” says Jani Backman, the Project Director of Sport Event Management Finland.

The dialogue will continue at upcoming industry events. The next Nordic Event Hosts Meeting is scheduled to take place in Finland next year.
