The European Curling Championships return to Kisakallio in 2025 – The 2024 event reached 48 million viewers

After last year’s successful event, the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships is returning to Finland and the fantastic facilities at Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja on 22-29 November 2025.

Kisakallio has proven to be a hub for curling excellence as this will be the first time a European Curling Championship will be held at the same venue two years in a row.

“Returning to the Kisakallio Sports Institute for the second consecutive year is an exciting opportunity to continue building on the success of last year’s Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships. Their world-class facilities and commitment to sporting excellence make Kisakallio a perfect venue to continue showcasing the best of European curling,” says World Curling Head of Competitions, Eeva Rothlisberger.

At the same time, when the A-Division competes at Kisakallio in Lohja, the B-Division competes at the Pajulahti Sports Centre in Lahti.

“For the first time in history, we host both the A-Division and B-Division European Championships simultaneously at our campuses in Kisakallio and Pajulahti. It’s also fantastic to see Finland playing in the home championships,” says Event Director at Sport Institute of Three Campuses, Laura Kittelä.

The 2024 event was impactful and reached millions

According to research by the Sport Business by JAMK, visitors, teams and spectators of The European Curling Championships, held at the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja in November 2024, spent a total of 459,000 euros in the host city.

What is more, International curling broadcasts from the event reached 48 million viewers around the world, and the brand of the city of Lohja was on display for 894 hours. According to Nielsen estimates, this corresponds to a media value of 896,023 euros.

The European Curling Championships showed how much financial and image benefit major events can bring.
