The IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships brought energy to Helsinki

For the first time, the IFSC Youth World Championships were held in Finland from July 28 to August 3, and the week-long event exceeded all expectations. A total of 621 under-19 athletes from 57 countries came to compete in boulder, lead, and speed disciplines, showcasing the future of climbing on Finnish walls.

The competitions took place across two top-level venues: Climbing Arena Ristikko, one of the largest climbing gyms in Northern Europe, and Helsinki Climbing Center. The outdoor bouldering finals added a special atmosphere, as athletes climbed under the summer sun with DJs, food trucks, and cheering crowds creating a true festival vibe.

Over seven days, the event featured 12 qualification rounds, 12 semifinals, and 12 intense finals, each one filled with energy, emotion, and unforgettable moments.

The Youth World Championships didn’t just bring the world’s top youth climbers to Helsinki; they created a one-of-a-kind celebration of sport, community, and summer in the north.
