Imatra hosts sports events across all seasons
The Saimaa Cycle Tour, held on 11–13 July 2025, was the largest cycling event ever organised in Finland, attracting over 4,000 participants from more than 40 countries. Interest in the event continues to grow, with over 3,500 riders already registered for the 2026 edition, and the estimated number of participants is approximately 6,000. An event survey conducted this year in cooperation with JAMK University of Applied Sciences estimated the economic impact at €1.481 million.
The legendary Imatranajot International Road Racing Championship (IRRC) event drew 23,000 visitors in July 2025 and will return once again in 2026.
Imatra is also gearing up for winter action, as preparations for the 2026 IBU Youth European Championships in biathlon are well underway.
