Jyväskylä remains the host city of the World Rally Championship in Finland through 2031

Jyväskylä will remain the home city of Secto Rally Finland for the next five years. The City of Jyväskylä and AKK Sports Oy have signed a new cooperation agreement under which the Finnish round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) will be held in Jyväskylä from 2027 to 2031.

The long agreement period provides a strong foundation for developing the event and strengthening its position as one of the most highly regarded rounds of the World Rally Championship.

“It was great to sign the agreement in the very year the World Rally Championship in Finland celebrates its 75th anniversary. The five-year extension means we will also be able to mark the rally’s 80th anniversary in our own city. The rally means a great deal to Jyväskylä and its residents, so this is a fine day for the whole city in many ways,” says Timo Koivisto, Mayor of Jyväskylä.

Jyväskylä continues as the event’s official principal partner and host city, and the competition programme will continue to include at least one city special stage.

“I want to thank the City of Jyväskylä, the whole region and everyone who has made this event possible over the years. Above all, the five-year agreement is a guarantee of continuity. It allows us to carry out long-term development work, invest in the future, and build the event together into something even stronger. This is how we create the conditions for Secto Rally Finland to succeed for the next 75 years as well,” says Lauri Pöyhönen, CEO of AKK Sports Oy.
