PDGA Professional World Championships in Finland break records and set a new global benchmark

Hosted for the first time outside North America, the 2025 PDGA Professional World Championships in Nokia, Finland, from July 30 to August 3, became the most impactful disc golf event to date, by nearly every metric. A total of 288 of the world’s top disc golfers from 47 countries competed for the ultimate title in the sport.

With 25,800 spectators on-site throughout the week and a record-breaking 11,500 on Sunday alone, the event generated an estimated €3.99 million for the local economy. Broadcasts via Disc Golf Network and YLE reached over 1.35 million viewers, while social media impressions surpassed 100 million.

The event was widely featured in national and international sports coverage and was praised as the finest championship experience by both players and fans. 2025 World Champion Gannon Buhr called it “the best championships I’ve ever seen.”

“This is the highlight of my career,” said Tournament Director Jussi Meresmaa. “We built the greatest disc golf event in history and brought the sport into the national spotlight.”
