Spartan returns to Lahti following a strong international impact – Lahti Historic Rally shares the same weekend
The Spartan Trifecta Weekend and Para World Championships will take place in Lahti on 22–23 August 2026, bringing obstacle racing back to the landscapes of the Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark. At the same time, the Lahti region is also buzzing with rally cars as Lahti Historic Rally, a round of the FIA European Historic Gravel Rally Championship, brings classic rally cars to the city.
The Spartan event builds on the success of the 2025 Spartan European Championships, which attracted approximately 3,500 participants and event personnel from 42 countries. Also this year, about 3,000 participants will join. This year, a new series has also been launched: Spartan Doubles, which takes participants on the route in pairs.
According to a visitor survey, last year’s event generated an estimated €4 million in economic impact for the Lahti region. International participants accounted for 45% of all competitors, underlining the event’s strong international appeal.
The Lahti Historic Rally will officially be driven from 21–22 August. It consists of 14 special stages around the area. The official start and finish will be at Lahti Harbour. This year the event is held for the 25th time.
The Spartan and the Lahti Historic Rally found a fun way to match their routes: at the Teivaa Marina, Spartan participants will climb over the rally route through an obstacle while rally cars will drive under it.
“We presented our international course director with the idea of placing the A-Frame Cargo Net obstacle in the harbour, and the coordination of the event areas was quickly resolved,” says Tiina Boman, Director of Operations for Spartan Finland, in the press release.
